Home Infusion Therapy
Infusion Therapies are Parenteral, which means the
Infusion is delivered to the body intravenously and
not through the gastrointestinal tract. Home
Infusion Therapies are IV medications and nutrition
delivered and administered in a home setting.
Home Infusion Therapy has grown tremendously due
to the increased cost of in-Patient care, technological
advances, and emergence of best practices homecare
models. Patients that cannot easily travel to a medical
office or infusion suite may prefer Home Infusion
Therapy. Many Patients not only appreciate the
convenience of not commuting on a regular basis for their therapy, but report being more comfortable receiving Infusion Therapy in the most familiar of settings, the home.
While some drugs are not eligible for home Infusion due to monitoring requirements or risk of unsupervised allergic reactions, many Infusion Therapies and Patients are eligible for Home Infusion. Patients should check with their Physicians to find out if their prescribed drug may be administered at home, or if the Patient must receive their doses in a clinical settings.
Landmark Home Infusion delivers timely service, thorough training, support from in-home nursing, and excellent follow through. While some drugs are not eligible for home Infusion due to safety concerns, or risk of unsupervised severe drug reactions, most Infusion therapies are excellent candidates for home Infusion.

Ambulatory Infusion Suites are operated by
home Infusion providers. No Physician is
involved, but a nurse and pharmacist are
present. A suite has the advantage of
having a nurse and pharmacist present,
as some therapies are difficult to administer
in the home setting due to safety, or
concerns with unsupervised severe
drug reactions. Some drugs even require
more than one medical professional be
present for the Infusion. Infusion suites
are mostly billed in the same manner as home Infusion therapy. Landmark provides Pharmacy services on a private label basis to third party Infusion suites.
Infusion Clinics are Ambulatory Infusion Centers (AIC), and serve as the highest clinical alternate setting for Infusion, yet still avoid the full costs of being admitted to a hospital or nursing home. There are drugs that are not cost effective in a home or Infusion suite setting, but receive better reimbursement from insurance in a Physician or Hospital Based Clinic. Some drugs may even only be available in a clinical setting, and may not be approved for use in a home or suite setting. The advantage to a clinic is that a Physician is present to monitor the Infusion or deal with any issues from severe reactions. Physicians may also require their Patients to receive the first dosage of new Infusion therapy in a clinical setting, and thereafter receive therapy in the suite or home setting.
